Keepsafe Premium: what you get and whether it's worth it

What the upgrade buys you, and who actually needs it.

Short answer

Keepsafe's free version is limited to 200 items in its private cloud and shows ads. Premium raises the cloud limit to 10,000 items, or 100,000 with Lifetime, and adds extras like a fake PIN and break-in alerts. It's billed monthly, yearly or once. If you don't want a cloud copy at all, you don't need Premium.

Fake PIN No Yes
Break-in alerts No Yes
Billing Free Monthly, yearly or a one-off lifetime purchase

Keepsafe's own help pages describe the cloud limits. Prices vary by country and change over time, so check the app for today's price. On its iPhone paywall, Keepsafe has charged around $9.99 a month, and between $23.99 and $35.99 a year.

Is it worth it?

Yes, if you want the cloud. Premium's biggest feature is room in Keepsafe's private cloud, so your vault survives a lost or broken phone. If that matters most to you, Premium is a fair price for it.

Maybe, if you want the extras. A fake PIN and break-in alerts are useful. Plenty of vaults include similar features for less.

No, if you'd rather nothing went online. Premium mostly pays for cloud space. If you'd prefer your private photos never leave the phone, you're paying for the part you don't want.

A cheaper, offline option

Dobr's free plan holds 35 items in one vault, with no ads. Unlimited costs $1.99 a week, $19.99 a year or $39.99 once, and gives you as many vaults and items as you like, including a decoy vault that opens with a second pattern. There's no cloud at all, because the app has no internet permission. The flip side is that you keep your own backup of anything irreplaceable. Our Keepsafe alternative page compares the two in full.

If you're cancelling Keepsafe Premium

Subscriptions bought through Google Play are cancelled in the Play Store: tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Before you cancel, make sure anything over the free cloud limit is also saved somewhere else.
